Success, a window next to the prop, exactly what I wanted.įast forward to Thursday morning, I rocked up at Manchester Airport around 7am for the 08:40 flight. ![]() ![]() Plenty of firsts in this trip - first time on a Flybe ATR 72-500, first time to Isle of Man Airport, first time on Eastern Airways and the Saab 2000, and of course my first time on a Swiss long haul aircraft! In order to get to Zurich to fly back to Heathrow on the 777, I came up with an inventive routing consisting of Manchester to Isle of Man on a Flybe (operated by Stobart Air) A TR 72-500, Isle of Man to London City on a BA Cityflyer (operated by Eastern Airways) Saab 2000, followed the next day by a BA Cityflyer Embraer 190 to Zurich! Can't be doing it the easy or boring way. Well, what else to do than get on it? A quick search showed it operating a few Heathrow flights, for a reasonable one way price no less, so I quickly booked for the opportunity to fly on this brand new aircraft! A tempting Business Class upgrade offer at the time of booking was too good to refuse, so my seat on the 777 in Business Class was secured! ![]() Swiss International Airlines have recently taken delivery of their first Boeing 777-300ER, part of a long haul fleet replacement, and for the last few weeks it's been operating on intra-Europe flights in preparation for the start of long haul ops. ![]()
